Friends and family play an important role in the life of a student. Children who are supported and encouraged to read perform much better.

That's one of the reasons we wanted you to know about our Read-A-Thon at Shultz Elementary. The Read-A-Thon allows us to raise funds while promoting a love of reading with our students.

We invite you to make a donation that will benefit Charlotte and Shultz Elementary. When donating, we encourage you to leave a message for Charlotte, which means so much to young readers.

We are excited that Read-A-Thon will return to Nette Shultz Elementary starting on Friday, January 24th! 

Last year's Read-A-Thon was a great success, and we raised more than $28,000 for our school! Most importantly, our students read over 750,000 combined minutes over two weeks, reaching their goals while developing a lasting love of reading. 

This will be our only campus fundraiser this year. Money raised will go directly to supporting our teachers, staff, and students. Because Texas has not increased school funding through the per-student basic allotment since 2019, school districts across our state have had to make difficult financial decisions to keep up with rising inflation. As a result, all schools in our district have seen reductions to their campus budgets in recent years. The financial support of our school community through the Read-A-Thon fundraiser will in turn help us support our educators and classrooms at the same levels we were accustomed to before these budget cuts.

From January 24th through February 10th, every student and teacher at Nette Shultz Elementary will be reading as much as they can to reach their goals. Donors share encouragement with our students and directly support teaching and learning at our school.
